Education is the ornament for human beings. Education, wealth and strength are necessary for everyone. But the value of each of them depends on the way you use it. Millions said ‘the apple fell’ but Isaac Newton was the only one to ask ‘why’. This is the true spirit of curiosity that MPCOE tries to inculcate in its students. The institute’s atmosphere, infrastructure that keeps abreast of global standards, excellent academic facilities, and outstanding residential environment richly add to the perfect ambience for studies and thereby help us achieve the exacting standards of academic excellence. We aim to give our students a complete educational experience thereby transforming them into well-groomed professionals.

Engineering offers a highly rewarding and lucrative career – one in which you can apply intuitive, imaginative and creative ideas to find appropriate solutions to the challenges facing our society. I wish you success in sharing knowledge, ideas and solving important societal needs and issues. However, the ‘Success in life’ will certainly depend upon creating high ethical and moral values besides imparting and inculcating up-to date knowledge and skills.

We realize that we have to transform XII class student into a professional engineer within a period of four formative years. We ensure that students should gain not just technical knowledge but also a holistic set of skills that will equip them to face the real world. Faculty-members guide and monitor students by participating in their academic, research, sports & cultural pursuits. We want our students to be committed, dedicated to their goals along with integrity and concern for the environment and rural society they live in.

Institute is successfully running academic autonomy awarded by AICTE, UGC and University of Mumbai. Introduction of changes in curriculum and timely revisions in it as per the needs of advancement and changing scenario of industry resulted in satisfaction and enjoyment at both students and teachers end. We insist that our faculty should continuously upgrade to provide direction for future teaching-learning innovations.

On behalf of management, faculty and staff of VPM’s Maharshi Parshuram College of Engineering, I wish you all the best in your personal and professional career.

Seasons' Greeting From Dr. Chincholkar

13 March 2019

Dear Students,

By now the results of Unit Test – I of the ongoing semester as well as of the University’s Semester-End examination of November / December 2018 have all been declared. For a large number of students the results bring happiness for self, for the parents and for the institute. For a small number results are an indication that more efforts are required at individual level.

It is time to introspect and analyze whether you are doing right or not. It is time to decide whether the amount of time spent in daily studies and practice is adequate or not.

If your result is satisfactory then you should study more so that you get a first class or distinction next time. That will enormously boost your chances of getting a more attractive job.

If your result is not so satisfactory then it is time to concentrate more on studies, attending all the remaining lectures and laboratory sessions, and practicing more numerical problems and writing. That will surely help you to score better marks in the Unit Test – II which is next month.

This year’s SAPTAK witnessed more participation by students in all the sports as well as cultural events. We also witnessed some very good performances of students. Some talents that were hidden till now also came before the others for appreciation. I congratulate all the winners (individuals as well as teams) and thank every student for their participation.

We understand limitations and economical conditions of our students and therefore we try, as much as feasible, and allow some students to pay their tuition and/or hostel fees (as applicable) in affordable installments. However, I am informed by our accounts office and Heads that some of you have still not paid full tuition / hostel fees as on date. Kindly note that this disturbs our financial condition and payment of salary to staff and faculty gets affected.

I appeal to all such students, who have any outstanding fees against their name, to please expedite the payment of remaining fees and cooperate with the management of college.

As the summer sets in and days become more and more sultry, everyone should take more and more care of one’s health and eating habits.

University of Mumbai has set norms for minimum attendance. Please obey them and ensure that your attendance is in safe zone.

There are likely to be some changes in the schedule of University Examinations in the current semester. Please keep a close watch on University circulars in this regard.

Please fill and submit forms of Scholarships, Examination, Revaluation, etc. on time to avoid inconvenience to self and others.

Last, but perhaps more important in the prevailing circumstances, is that each one of you should go for summer internship this year. For this, please start contacting industries directly or through our T & P office at the earliest.

If internship is not available then join some skill enhancement courses (online as well as offline options are available). Keep yourself constructively and productively occupied during summer holidays.

On behalf of Dr. Vijay Bedekar, my colleagues (faculty and staff) I wish each one of you good health and good performance in the forthcoming examinations and career opportunities.

Thanks a lot.

Dear Students,

Seasons’ Greetings to all of you!!!

As the teaching in current semester has ended for the SE, TE and BE students and Oral / Practical examinations are also completed, the Preparation or Study Leave has begun. The End-Semester examinations will be commencing from 15 November 2018.

From your overall performance in both Internal Assessment Tests of the just concluded academic semester, all of your faculty and staff members, Dr. Bedekar and I are very satisfied. We have noticed that majority of students are maturing and are more confident to deliver best performance in the forthcoming End-semester examination of University.  That is a very good news !!

I am also confident that you would study every subject in a planned and methodical manner so that your performance will be much better than in Internal Assessment Tests. Please contact your subject teacher(s) in case you have any doubt in any subject.

The weather in Velneshwar is very fine these days and you will cherish these days of study, enjoyment and friendship.

While you are preparing for End-semester examination I urge the Third year and Final year students to plan for undergoing short in-plant training or some useful software training or a course in soft skill, during the available ‘Winter break’. Through our Unified Placement Cell we will be conducting special sessions to assist the eligible Final year students to get decent and respectable placement. However, you should not fall short of any organization’s expectations.  If you have any doubt or need any assistance in this regard, please contact Mr. Nikhil Gokhale, our Training and Placement Officer.

I take this opportunity to also urge you to plan payment of your outstanding Tuition and Hostel Fees, as applicable. Delay in paying your fee affects our financial planning and we want you to cooperate. You should help your parents to save a calculated amount / sum on a monthly basis so that you are very comfortable in June 2019 to pay the full fee of academic year 2019 - 20 in one installment.

FE semester will also be over by 17 November 2018 and then they will be writing their first University Examination. Please join me in wishing them success in this examination and a very bright future ahead.

We have started preparing for our Annual Cultural and Sports event, SAPTAK 2019 to be organized during Mid-Semester break in the first half of 2019 and we would like it to become a memorable annual event. We would like full participation and cooperation of each one of you in SAPTAK 2019.

To facilitate concentrated study for each subject of forthcoming End-Semester examination, we have decided to provide 3 Reading Halls on the ground floor of A – 2 building (गणेश दैवज्ञ). The Reading Hall of library will be available for absolutely silent study and will be only for limited number of students on first come, first served basis. Therefore I appeal to students to make full use of lecture halls (reading halls) of गणेश दैवज्ञfrom 13 November 2018.

Besides the reading halls of गणेश दैवज्ञ, Cafeteria of Nana Fadnavis hall will also be available for study purpose.

Before closing, let me wish you very satisfactory performance in End-semester Examination and then Happy Ending to 2018 and then Warm Welcome in New Year of 2019!!

Principal

16 August 2018

My Dear Students,

It was a memorable Independence Day yesterday because a large number of students from Hostel as well as from outside the campus attended it. That was a positive happening for all of us. You are the ones who will decide the future of this huge country and we are proud for all of you.

The efforts of First Year students who prepared Posters, Model, and Presentation are indeed praise worthy. Through their media they have tried to spread awareness about Environmental issues and what we should do to protect it. I congratulate and compliment all the FE students for setting an example for others.

Our team of students took part in the recently held selection round of Youth Festival events at Dapoli. Mr. Krunal Belwalkar of Final year Mechanical won Second Prize in the event of painting/sketching. Congratulations to him!!! He will now be representing MPCOE at University of Mumbai. Please Wish him Good Luck.

College will be welcoming this year’s freshers of FE and DSE in a simple function on 20 August 2018.

We have completed almost 1 ½ months of regular teaching and you will be having your First Unit Test within 20 days before mid-semester break. You should aim to score excellent marks in each unit test because it is for practice. Your performance in these unit tests will be an indication about your performance in the Final examination. So, please start preparing for the First Unit Test and score at least 60% marks in each test.

The mid-semester break will only be for few days. It is intended to provide a pause and time to recharge for the second part of current semester. Regular classes will resume immediately after the break. You should attend lectures after break so as to understand the new topics that will be started after the break.

Our Senior Scientists will be coming to MPCOE during 28 – 30 August and they will be spending precious time interacting with all of you. Please make productive use of their presence and be creative.

Take good care of yourselves and stay fit and fine.

With best wishes for a fruitful current semester!!!

Principal

11 June 2018

Dear students,

Seasons’ Greetings to All of You!!!

  1. Even though each message reaches you with only my name at the bottom please note that I am representing all the teaching and supporting staff of MPCOE.
  2. I am certain that you are quite excited about the End-of-Current-Semester being round the corner.  I am hopeful that you did well in all your subjects in the University Examination which will be ending on 12th June 2018. You will be going back to join your parents, brothers and sisters, cousins, and other relatives and spending some quality time with all of them. We want you to relax, enjoy and get fully charged for next round of academics.
  3. The next semester commences from 9th of July 2018 and we want you to be sincere in attending your lectures and laboratories and thinking about your mini-project from the first day. You are moving up one step towards your final degree.  Every student has to register in respective department on 9th July 2018 and pay the tuition fees. Only registered students will get benefit of attendance. We expect you to help your parents to plan the payment of your fees on time. This is an annual activity and can be planned in sufficiently advance.
  4. While enjoying about a month’s vacation before the commencement of next semester we suggest that you also engage yourselves in specific “Value Addition” activities such as learning some software, undergoing in-plant training, improving your Communication skill a little more, acquiring new hobby, etc. The list is endless. Choice is, of course, yours. This will improve your prospects in future.
  5. We would appreciate very much if you pay your tuition fees of next semester (irrespective of the declaration of result of previous semester) within 15 July 2018. That helps me plan the expenses for the entire semester. Similarly if you are desirous of living in hostel then please note that room will be allotted only on the payment of full (Rs. 90000) or half year’s (Rs. 45000). Those who pay full fee at the time of room allotment will be eligible for a rebate of 5% (Rs.4500). Rebate will be available only on payment made till 15 July 2018.

We wish you all a happy vacation and a bright career ahead.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. A. M. Chincholkar
Principal

2 January 2018, Tuesday

Dear Students,

Seasons’ Greetings and Best Wishes for a Very Happy and Fruitful New Year 2018 !!!

I am quite sure that all of you had a blast on New Year eve as we all bade good bye to 2017 and welcomed 2018 with optimism and enthusiasm.

Over the last 40 years or so, ever since I began to understand the meaning of New Year celebrations, I have been keenly observing the changes in the manner in which New Year has been welcomed. By and large there are two kinds of thoughts.

For one large section of the world every New Year eve is a time to go berserk, celebrate, and indulge in drinking and boozing as if that is the only way to enjoy. For them New Year is an Extra Terrestrial phenomenon more significant than the Valentine Day, Christmas, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day and all other days clubbed together. Some of them have already worked out the number of “long” weekends they would get in 2018!!!  Indians are particularly good at such research.

Then there are a smaller lot of world citizens for whom New Year is merely a change in Calendar because nothing else changes around the world. The Sun, The Moon, The Earth, the Nature, and the Rest of the Galaxy will continue to behave as before.  There will be actually NO change, whatsoever, as far as Universe is concerned.

You might belong to one of the two schools of thoughts stated above. Or you might be having your own reason to celebrate New Year. Whatever may be the reasons, it would be desirable to bring some positive and constructive changes in oneself to justify New Year’s celebrations. Because if you continue to do what you have been doing in 2017 then it does not make sense whether the New Year is 2018 or 2020.

Late Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s vision of India being a Superpower by 2020 cannot be realized unless and until every citizen contributes. And the contribution in the New Year has to be better in quality, more impactful, more meaningful and more powerful than in previous year.

I do not celebrate anything like New Year because I fall into the smaller lot of citizen stated above. But I do bring some constructive change in my personality or my skill-set or my hobby-set, etc. so that at the end of the year I enjoy a feeling of satisfaction. One year is definitely sufficient to bring about some useful and meaningful constructive change in any human being.

You might be aware that a small bunch of Smart British people came to India towards the end of Nineteenth century and then ruled and looted us for nearly 100 years. Now, Smart Mobile phones, Smart TVs, Smart Cities and Smart gadgets are ruling Indians. It is time for us to become Smarter than, at least, the smart mobile to which we are addicted and, at least, take control of this country to realize the vision of Late Dr. Kalam.

Some of the resolutions that you can make and actually fulfill with satisfaction are suggested below. These are applicable to all the students from FE to BE.

  1. Develop at least 5 more Strengths and reduce at least 3 of your existing Weaknesses;
  2. Acquire certain additional skill (software or hardware based) to further increase your market value;
  3. Study more regularly, systematically and intelligently to pass every forthcoming semester without any backlog;
  4. Use smart phones ONLY for constructive and useful purposes that would help you get good grades or to get decent job etc.
  5. Get rid of complaining attitude;
  6. Make punctuality and discipline a habit;
  7. Start behaving even more responsibly;
  8. Develop love for Art, Music, and Culture;
  9. Stay away from Social Media if it is turning into an addiction;
  10. Develop more effective communication skill;

MPCOE offers some of the best infrastructural amenities and facilities to its students. Especially the Library, Gymnasium, Sports and Intranet are top class. Such facilities are very expensive. Please use them with care for maximum benefits.

VPM’s Chairman Dr Vijay Bedekar and office bearers join me in wishing all of you the very best in 2018.

Dear students,

Seasons’ Greetings to all of you !!!

As the teaching in current semester has ended for the SE, TE and BE students and Oral / Practical examinations are also getting completed, the Preparation or Study Leave has begun. The End-Semester examinations will be commencing from 20 November 2017.

All of your faculty and staff members, Dr. Bedekar and I are satisfied with the just concluded teaching – learning process. We believe that our students are mature and confident enough to deliver best performance in the forthcoming End-semester examination of University.

I am confident that you would study every subject in a planned and methodical manner so that your performance will be more than satisfactory. Please contact your subject teacher(s) in case you have any doubt in any subject.

The weather in Velneshwar is very fine these days and you will cherish these days of study, enjoyment, sports and friendship.

31 July 2017

Dear First Year students – fresh batch of academic year 2017 - 18,

On behalf of Vidya Prasarak Mandal, Thane, all of my teaching faculty, staff and students, I warmly welcome each one of you on your first day in VPM’s Maharashi Parshuram College of Engineering (MPCOE), Velneshwar.  We have already started informal sessions some days ago to make each one of you at ease and to familiarize you with the change that is going to take place in your personality in the next four years.

Only yesterday our “Council of Senior Scientists” (CSS) concluded their visit to MPCOE and guided our TE and BE students (of various branches) on mini and major projects. This is a unique and special activity for the students of MPCOE. You will also get this benefit soon.

We expect you to be good not only in academics but also in important aspects of your personality so that when you complete your studies in the next 4 years, you will be absolutely ready to join any industry or organization or start your own.

Therefore, manage your precious time intelligently, study regularly and practice answers to past University question papers (of each subject), and participate in games and sports to stay healthy and cheerful. This will guarantee success in first year.

Feel free to contact / approach your FE coordinator Dr. Amit Mane or any other faculty or staff if you have any difficulty / clarification.

Please cooperate with college management in saving water and electricity and maintaining discipline and punctuality.

Wishing you a successful first year and bright future.

Dr. Avinash M. Chincholkar

27 March 2017

Dear student,

  • Ever since I joined this college on 2nd March 2017 we have had many technical events in Civil, Computer, Electrical, E & TC, Instrumentation, and Mechanical Engineering Departments. I am impressed by the enthusiastic participation in, and conduct of, all these events by students and faculty.
  • I congratulate all the students of these departments and their Head and faculty and staff for showcasing your strengths and capabilities.
  • ARENA 2017 witnessed large and energetic participation from young individuals and teams of Jr. Science and Polytechnics of Ratnagiri district in various games and sports. Participants are impressed by our sports facilities, excellent campus, and most importantly the professional organization of all the events by students of MPCOE. Our sports volunteers deserve huge compliments for excellent conduct of ARENA 2017 under the mentorship of Mr. P. R. Shankar, the faculty in-charge of sports.
  • Some of our students have been selected by CMS IT Services, Mumbai, and a team of Computer Engineering students is all set to win Government sponsored Smart India Hackathon 2017.
  • All the above happenings are a sign of growing reputation and appreciation of MPCOE. Your contribution is great and we thank everyone for it.
  • The current semester will be ending in another 4 weeks and I am observing that you are becoming more and more focused about Final Examination to be conducted in May / June 2017.  That is a very good approach for success in examination.
  • You would have realized by now that having any number of backlog subjects becomes a big speed breaker on the road to Degree. It is far easier and prudent to study sincerely and regularly every day and pass every semester with at least 60% marks than moving forward in jerky motion with year-drop or ATKT.
  • Parents’ meet held on 25 March 2017 saw good response and we thank all those who travelled to MPCOE for it.
  • Financial planning is an important exercise that most of us fail to do because money (fee) is paid by parents. However, you should bear in mind that every one of us would also be becoming a parent one day and then he / she would also be going through the same situation. You might be required to finance much larger fee of one or more children.
  • Instead of deferring the payment of outstanding fee till the last day of the year, you should plan its payment in NOT more than 2/3 installments.
  • MPCOE is one of those few Engineering institutes where salary of faculty and staff is paid every month. To make it possible, every student should pay tuition or hostel fee or both within 3 months of the commencement of next semester.  We will not be required to impose late fee if every student behaves responsibly.
  • Disciplined life and Punctuality in reporting to lectures and laboratories, in mess, and for every program of college should be the hallmark of MPCOE students.
  • Your appearance (dress, footwear, language, attitude etc.) conveys a lot more than your degree. We want you to appear and behave as a Professional Engineer every day. Let us begin from today.
  • Visitors and VIPs have, on the one hand, complimented me for top class infrastructure and facilities in MPCOE but, on the other hand, they conveyed their displeasure over haphazard parking of vehicles all over the place, speed driving in campus, three persons riding a two-wheeler and so on. Only a few of our negative actions are neutralizing the positive effects of so many good things that we do or we have done.  Let us NOT allow negative actions in campus by anyone.
  • I urge you to be vigilant and responsible in eliminating any kind of wastage of precious water and / or electricity and in keeping our campus and its surroundings clean and hygienic.  Your cooperation will be appreciated.
  • I conclude this letter by urging you to take good care of yourself during the days ahead so that you are mentally as well as physically active and fit for your examinations.
  • Our congratulations and best wishes to all the students who have got respectable score in GATE 2017.
  • We, the teachers, and your parents would like to see you in higher class (without any backlog) in 2017 – 18 OR passing out with flying colours.
  • With best wishes from entire faculty and staff of MPCOE.

Dr. A. M. Chincholkar
Principal

4 March 2017

Dear Students and All Staff,

I am very happy to be back in MPCOE Velneshwar after a gap of nearly three and a half years. The number of students and staff has increased manifold during the intervening period and that is quite a heartening feeling.

The sight of students energetically and enthusiastically organizing SPARK 2k17, on play grounds, in sports centre, and elsewhere is very energising for me. I am pround of our students, teaching faculty and staff. They have contributed individually as well as in groups in the shaping of this beautiful institute.

Since its beginning in 2012 VPM’s MPCOE has been setting standards of excellence in academics, infrastructure facilities, amenities for students and staff, MoUs signed for the benefit of all concerned, harnessing of solar energy, and on many other fronts.

From this point onward we will be rising even higher and raising the bar of excellence.

I appeal to all my dear students and teaching and supporting staff, who are our true strength, to cooperate with the Management in further improving the quality of life here in campus.

Please feel free to meet me with your bright ideas and views for the all round development of everyone. I appeal to students to pay their outstanding tuition / hostel and other fee, as the case may be, at the earliest within a week. It is students’ fee and fee alone that drives this mega institute. I am confident that my dear students will behave responsibly and pay their dues within time.

As the ongoing semester is about to end within a month or so, I also appeal to all students to focus on their studies and preparation for examination (oral as well as written) should be given priority. Department Heads and teaching faculty members are always ready to help you in clearing your difficulties and doubts. So approach them without hesitation.

Take good care of your health and stay fit and positive. Success will come to you.

With best wishes.

Dr. Avinash M. Chincholkar

Message for FE students Message for SE students

______________________________________________________________________________________________

1 July 2013

Dear SE students,

Warm welcome to you on the first day of your Second Year in Engineering.

During your FE, you all have studied common subjects together, irrespective of your branch or course of Engineering. From this year onwards, however, you will be studying subjects specific to your chosen branch.

We have started the third semester 2 weeks ahead of scheduled date because we believe that an early start will give you a definite advantage over others. During these two weeks we will not only revise the basics of some important subjects like Applied Mathematics, Engineering Mechanics, Basic Electronics, etc., but will also conduct a three-day workshop to provide each one of you hands-on practice on some simple but useful mini-project to take you closer to practical world. During these 2 weeks we will gradually introduce actual subjects of SE so that you will not feel the burden.

I am confident that during your summer break in June 2013 you have made full use of your time by undergoing some Industrial Training, or by taking up any other productive activity. It will certainly give you an edge over your colleagues.

For the hostellers good news is that we have arranged for a trainer for our Gymnasium and it will be open for regular use from this week. So, you are welcome to make the best use of this world-class facility to keep yourselves physically fit for more rigorous studies of SE.

After one year of your BE you are already wiser and would have realized the importance of regular studies. Whatever may be your FE result, I appeal to you to be sincere, regular, and focused in your studies of each subject of Second Year from the very first lecture. If you do it, I assure you that your SE result will be positive.

You will see and meet new teachers who have joined this college. Very soon you will also be joined by fresh batch of FE. You will be their seniors and you are expected to behave accordingly. I am confident that you will refrain from indulging in ragging or any other activity that could jeopardize your career.

So please remain focused on your goal of getting your B.E. degree in another 3 years with no backlog paper in any subject.

Our best wishes are with you. Please feel free to approach your teachers/Principal/Director for any guidance.

29 May 2013

Dear students,

We are confident that you are doing well in the ongoing examinations of FE semester – I and II, and also hope that you are keeping yourselves physically, mentally and emotionally fit.

I have informed to you earlier through a separate notice that we would like to start the college from 1 July 2013, after summer break till 30 June 2013. Even though University of Mumbai's official commencement date is 15 July for higher semesters, we believe that our students need extra days to revise the pre-requisites of different subjects. With this concern for our students in mind we will begin from 1 July and utilize the two weeks for revising important concepts that will facilitate easier understanding of Second year subjects.

You definitely need a break but a long unproductive vacation might prove to be a waste if you have not planned some short industrial training or a value-addition course during it.

There are some students who have taken letter from me to undergo short duration training in some organizations. We really appreciate their thinking and planning. My appeal to you all is to take your Engineering seriously and make an honest attempt at utilizing every opportunity / break in learning some extra-curricular or co-curricular activities. This learning will not only add weightage to your resume / bio-data but will also boost your chances of getting a more promising employment.
INDO GERMAN TOOL ROOM, AURANGABAD and its extension centres at Pune and Nagpur offer short-duration courses for students of Mechanical Engineering. There are other organizations for other branches of Engineering. Kindly refer to their websites for more information.

We wish you success in every positive and constructive effort of yours. Please take good care of yourselves.

Dr Avinash M Chincholkar
Principal

______________________________________________________________________________________________

Dear faculty member,

Greetings from Dr Chincholkar!!!

While our students are writing their final examination of Second semester, you have relatively free time until 15 July 2013 when the classes of Second year commence. Those of you who are only concerned with First year subjects have even more time at your disposal.

If this free time is utilized in a productive and constructive way then we can become a more mature, wiser, and knowledgeable person than what we are today. I have following suggestions for utilizing the available free time.

If you are concerned with only first year subjects such as Physics and Chemistry, then please update and upgrade your notes in terms of contents, teaching aids (like PowerPoint slides, animations, videos, etc.), real life examples and applications of concepts, question bank for assignments and for class practice, and so on;
Irrespective of the number of years that you have been in teaching profession, there is always scope for improving quality of your delivery, throw and impact of your voice in class, making your lecture more interesting and interactive;
It is a good practice to bring in some humour in your lecture in the form of personal experiences, anecdotes, appropriate jokes, etc. But a word of caution is in order here. The humour should not be directed at any individual in the class, nor should it be directed at any caste, religion, colour, creed, etc. In other words, no one in the audience should feel hurt because of your comments.
We have an excellent language laboratory. Kindly make full use of it to hone your communication skill in English. And by that I mean communication skill in reading, writing, and speaking in English.
That brings us to the use of library. You will not find anywhere a library that is as rich as it is in MPCOE (given that we are only one year old) but so underutilized. Please read the available collection of technical as well as general books which are sure to enrich your thinking and wisdom. Dr Bedekar has time and again emphasized the significance of reading various journals that we subscribe for our library.
I have pointed out to you in one of my past emails that the computer, internet access and head-phone given to each of the teaching faculty members in his/her cabin in MPCOE is a luxury which is rare in Engineering colleges. But if this freedom and luxury are wasted in unproductive and non-academic activities then the particular teacher's performance will be affected and feedback will be poor. Eventually he / she will be asked to look for job elsewhere. I hope our faculty members are using the facilities for constructive activities that will take them to higher intellectual and maturity levels.
It is observed that majority of teachers teach their subject of first year or of higher classes in a typical bookish style - writing equations, substituting values, drawing diagrams, etc. Very few teachers actually understand the basic concepts and their relevance in practical human life or in industry. In this regard I urge you to kindly read the attached documents to better understand your role as a teacher and then think of measures that you can implement in your subject(s) to make it useful, interesting and worth attending.
One of the other major flaws that has been observed in Engineering education is that there is absolutely no interaction among different departments. As a result, Mechanical Engineering teachers only think about Mechanical subjects, Electrical people only think about their subjects, and so on. We do not want that to happen in MPCOE. In this regard, I would like to inform you that we have started setting up laboratories for different departments of Second Year. I appeal to you to arrange workshop about the understanding and use of equipment and machines of your laboratory for faculty members of other disciplines. The host department should explain the purpose of conducting each experiment and its relevance in life. The workshop of any particular laboratory will be considered successful If the teachers of other departments could understand and appreciate the experiments. Once this happens then our approach in teaching a particular subject becomes more meaningful and students develop interest.
Even among the teachers of different subjects of first year, academic level interaction is found lacking. We would like to correct this lacunae in the education system.
Therefore, we are conducting faculty demo-lectures to increase interaction among first year teachers and to help them understand and appreciate other's teaching style. These lectures will continue in future and you are encouraged to include topics from your subject, from your research field, and from your other areas of interest.
During the next two months we will go a step further. Mr Mane is requested to organize laboratory-wise 1 or 2 day sessions for available faculty members and to conduct and explain typical experiments of each laboratory. This activity can be planned immediately and, as far as possible, all the laboratories (including workshop) should be covered. Even on the day of examination, post-lunch session should be utilized.
For the laboratories of higher classes, we will start the workshops from first week of June. Mr Prashant Mahajan is requested to plan sessions in consultation with Dr Desai. Mr Atul Samant, Ms Dalvi, and Mr Bopardikar can be in his team.
I have tried to list some of the major areas where you should start working for a more fulfilling teaching career. But you are encouraged to think even beyond the above points and I will be glad to receive your suggestions and innovative ideas for taking MPCOE to IIT level.

While you sincerely and honestly try to raise your academic standard by practicing the above listed measures, please do not ignore or neglect your commitment and responsibility towards fellow human beings (non-teaching staff, office staff, house-keeping people, students, and members of society). Please respect their maturity level, qualification, their post, their duties and responsibilities, and the constraints under which they might be working. Keep your ego under control, and be polite to everyone you interact with.

Dear students,

I hope you are taking good care of yourselves and that you are doing well in the examination currently in progress.

Please feel free to contact your teacher for clarifying doubt in any subject of semester – I or II. If you face any other difficulty then please contact me or Dr Desai.

As we are also gearing up for second year which is likely to begin from July 2013 and then there will be CAP rounds for fresh first year admissions, we receive enquiries from prospective students and their parents about available courses, facilities in the campus, hostel life, food, faculty and staff etc. in MPCOE, Velneshwar. We have thrown an open invitation to all the interested prospective students, their parents, and school teachers to visit MPCOE in person and see for themselves what we have on offer. As they say, Quality Speaks For Itself, and therefore, you should be glad to know that there is a stream of visitors to MPCOE and their number is bound to increase in the coming days.

So you should be proud of yourselves that you belong to the first batch of MPCOE. You would have noticed that during the last 10 months, since we started, there have been regular value additions in campus life in the form of Utility Centre, Sports grounds, CCTV surveillance for your security and safety, cafeteria etc. There will be more value additions during the next year.

We only hope that all the existing first batch students go to second year with grace and pride. If you study with more concentration, work harder and longer, and take care of your health, then nobody can deny you the success you deserve.

Before I close for the week, I request you to please use available water with utmost care and respect. Do not litter the campus with plastics, ice-cream cups and wrappers, and other wastes. Use nearest dust bins instead to dispose waste products.

Success will be yours if you are determined to achieve it. We are with you.

Sincere thanks.

Hello dear student,

I am confident that you are taking good care of yourself during the last but important phase of your first year of engineering.

Your performance during the end-semester examination, beginning on 10 May 2013, will determine whether you would enter Second year, in chosen branch, with your head held high or not.

Needless to mention that a student who passes each semester in first attempt, with at least first class, has more likelihood of ensuring a decent job after graduation compared to the other colleague who requires more attempts to pass any semester. We believe that each one of you is capable of passing every semester in first attempt. What is necessary is dedicated effort and will to succeed. If you did not succeed in the first semester then you can make it happen from second semester onwards. It is never late!!!

There is still some time for the theory examination to commence but you immediately have practical examination in two subjects. I am hopeful that you have practiced adequately for both to get excellent marks.

Immediately after the practical examination please start studying for theory papers. Our faculty members are available to clarify your doubt in any subject. So feel absolutely at ease to approach them.

We hope that you would work hard and emerge successful in first semester. I am confident of meeting each one of you in second year.

5 March 2013
Dear students,

There is a feeling of satisfaction amongst all of us that after a hectic one-and-half-month of teaching in the second semester, there was break for sports and cultural events and that you took part in those events enthusiastically. As the old saying goes, ‘All work and no play makes jack a dull boy’, everyone of us has to realize and hone one’s skill sets and talent that are equally important in shaping our personality.

I thank you for your disciplined but energetic participation during the sports and cultural events. In future we will organize such events in even better way so that more students take part in it.

While we are anxious to know the result of first semester examinations, we cannot afford to let our performance in the second semester be affected by it. And the University’s practical and theory examinations are just 2 months’ away.

A glance at your performance in the Internal Assessment – I shows that majority of students have fared better than in first semester. And that is expected, because you are more mature and wiser by now.

However, to be eligible for Second Year of Engineering in 2013-14 you have to work harder, study more, and perform a lot better. Do you know that if you do not qualify for admission to Second year then you will have to discontinue class room studies for one year or until you become eligible again? By the time such students become eligible, their other batch-mates would have gone to higher classes. That situation creates other complications in the life of students and then it becomes even more difficult to complete Engineering.

We want to see all of you in Second Year in 2013-14. It will be good for you, for your parents, and for the college.

So let us tighten our seat belts and be ready for rigorous studies in the next 2 months. From 9 March onwards you will have to attend classes on Saturdays in difficult subjects like Engineering Drawing, Applied Mathematics, and Structured Programming Approach (please avoid using abbreviations of these names).

Two subjects have University practical examinations in this semester. And we want every student to pass in these practical examinations in the first attempt.

We also want you to do well in the Internal Assessment – II so that you pass in the internal exam of each subject.

If you take the above observations seriously, then the chances of your eligibility for Second year will be much brighter.

I am sure you have got the message. We are with you.
With best wishes for second semester.

Dr Chincholkar
Principal

Dear students,
Season’s greetings to you!!!
I am certain that you are enjoying the pleasant weather of Velneshwar these days and gradually getting into study mode for second semester.  Please maintain a regular study time-table for each subject (at least for the more difficult subjects) and you will experience and appreciate the advantages of regular study yourselves after the Internal Assessment – I.
At the same time I also appeal to you to identify a list of sports and games (in consultation with Mr Girish Joshi, Mr Patkar and Ms Dalvi) that you can organize in this semester within the available resources and facilities. Let us start the preliminary rounds of these events from this month either in the evenings/mornings or on Saturdays and Sundays after your study hours.
We would also like to see you taking part in large number in the cultural events to be organized as part of our annual social gathering in the last week of February 2013.
So let us study, enjoy, and be ready for celebrations.
Please do not forget to take care yourselves. With best wishes.
Dr. Avinash M Chincholkar
